Help our chapter thrive.
Our chapter is run entirely by volunteers, and every dollar is raised here in Tampa Bay. You don’t have to attend meetings to help. Many of our helpers are family members, friends, coworkers and neighbors who want to do something meaningful for grieving families.
Ways to help
Not everyone is able to sit in the circle, and that’s okay. There’s a way to help that fits what you can carry.
Give an hour
Assemble welcome boxes, address remembrance cards, or drop off brochures. Pick a task when you have time.
Join a committee
Each committee has a simple guide, so you’ll know exactly what’s involved before you say yes.
Ask your employer to match
Many companies match their employees’ donations. We’re registered on Benevity, which many employers use for giving and matching.
Sponsor something
Sponsor our Candle Lighting, the Walk to Remember, a month of welcome boxes, or our brochures for hospitals.
Give in a child’s name
Honor a child’s birthday or angel date with a gift that helps the next family who walks through our door.
Share our page
Pass our website to someone who is hurting, or share our Facebook posts. You may be how a parent finds us.
Our Steering Committee
Our chapter is guided by a small steering committee: a chapter leader, co-leader, treasurer, secretary, and the chairs of our committees. We meet briefly by Zoom, about 30 minutes a month, to check in on each committee and solve anything that needs attention.
You don’t have to be a bereaved parent to serve. Family members and friends who care about our mission are welcome.
- Co-leader: shares meeting leadership and steps in when the chapter leader can’t be there
- Treasurer: tracks donations and expenses, and gathers the numbers for our yearly report to the national office
- Secretary: takes brief notes at steering meetings and keeps our shared files in order
- Committee chairs: each looks after one area below and reports in at the monthly check-in
Most roles are for one year. You’ll always know what’s expected and when your term ends.
Where help makes the biggest difference
Welcome
Assembles welcome boxes and packets for new families, greets newcomers, and returns calls from parents who find us online or through the national office.
Remembrance
Keeps our list of children’s birthdays and angel dates, sends cards, reminds families to bring something in remembrance, and checks the newsletter dates.
Communications
Helps with the newsletter, email list, Facebook page and website updates.
Outreach
Keeps brochures stocked at hospitals, funeral homes and counselors’ offices, and keeps our online listings current.
Fundraising and Sponsors
Finds business sponsors, gathers raffle prizes, and helps with t-shirts and other fundraisers.
Events and Activities
Helps plan our Candle Lighting and Walk to Remember, and family outings like picnics, bowling and mini-golf.
Let us know.
Tell us a little about yourself and what you’d like to help with. We’ll send you the guide for that role, so you can see exactly what’s involved before you commit.
Past members, whether you came once or for years: you’re always part of our circle, and we’d love your help in a new way.
Every gift welcomes a family.
We receive no funding from the national office. Your gift pays for welcome boxes, books, brochures, our newsletter, the Candle Lighting and more. See where your gift goes →
