Where your gift goes.
Our chapter is run entirely by volunteers, and we receive no funding from the national office. Every brochure, candle and welcome box is paid for by people like you.
A welcome for every new family
Welcome boxes with tissues and an eye pack, welcome packets, bracelets, and a hope rock to hold on to when holding on is all you can do.
Our monthly meetings
Books for our lending library, printed materials, tissues and water for every meeting.
Reaching families who don’t know we exist
Brochures for hospitals, funeral homes and counselors, including the national booklets we buy for parents who have lost an only child or are newly bereaved.
Remembering every child
Our newsletter, birthday and angel date remembrances, and our annual Candle Lighting.
Time together
Picnics, bowling and mini-golf at little or no cost to families, plus our craft gatherings.
Keeping the lights on
Our website, phone line, and the yearly reporting we owe as a nonprofit chapter.
Our Walk to Remember
Our biggest gathering, open to the whole community. Your gifts and sponsorships cover the park reservation, the butterfly release, t-shirts, signs and photo boards, raffle prizes, water and supplies for walkers. What we raise at the Walk helps carry the chapter through the year.
More than one meeting a month
Our monthly meetings are what you see. Here’s what happens in between:
- Answering calls from newly bereaved parents
- Reaching out to families referred by the national office
- Keeping our Psychology Today and Facebook pages current
- Recording every child’s birthday and angel date
- Reviewing the newsletter so no child is missed
- Preparing welcome boxes and packets
- Buying books, brochures and supplies
- Keeping the email list and website running
- Organizing the Candle Lighting
- Filing our yearly report to the national office
Right now most of this is done by one person. With your help, it can be shared.
Every gift matters
Whether you give once, give in memory of a child, ask your employer to match your gift, or sponsor an event, you’re making sure the next parent who walks through our door finds a place ready for them.
Compassionate Friends of Tampa Bay Area, Chapter #2407, is a nonprofit chapter of The Compassionate Friends.
Thank you for helping no parent walk alone.
